I straighten my hair. I don't like doing it, as my hair is medium-thick and quite long, but i must. So, I was reading a magazine for quick oily hair fixes, %26amp; cam across applying talcum powder to the oily areas. Trouble is, the article didn't explain what to do! Can anyone teach me or give me a website that can?
Thanks in advance.Oily Hair Remedy- talcum powder, help??
Try looking for this stuff called dry shampoo. I have the Klorane brand of it. It's a powder which you spray over your head then brush out. It absorbs the oil from your hair and leaves it soft and smooth. It's a bit difficult to find but if you can, it's totally worth it!
If you want to experiment with talcum powder, sprinkle some over your hair then leave for a minute or two. Then brush out thoroughly and see what it does to your hair.
EDIT
Yeah I live in Oz as well - I got mine at Priceline (y)Oily Hair Remedy- talcum powder, help??
My hair can tend to be oily but I found if I put color in it the oil is not so bad.
Just put a minimal amount onto your hair and brush through well ( actually try to remove the talc). It works better for lighter hair colours but it should work for darker shades
Good luck!
You just put some talc in ur hands and pat it on to ur hair. Its ok if you are blonde, but if u r any other colour u look like u have been working in a flour mill.
To get rid of greasy hair, do this:
Put the shampoo on ur hair DRY. DO NOT WET IT YET
massage t shampoo in lightly, then put it under water and wash again. Simple as that. Oil and water do not mix, so if you wet it first u create a barrier and the shampoo just slides off without cleaning the hair at all.

Ist option: Use 'Fuller's Earth' to wash your hair every sunday. Anything more than this is usually not required for mild to moderate oiliness of scalp hair.
2nd option: Should the condition still persist after about 4-6 weeks of 'fuller's earth's' use, squeeze out juice from 2-3 lemons, apply it evenly over the entire scalp, leave for about 10 minutes, wash with normal water followed by use of 'fuller's earth'. Nothing else works best!
Should you not know how to prepare 'fuller's earth' for use do let me know.
On the plus side - Everything is 100% natural and safe.
You can buy shampoo that works dry which basically means it cleans your hair without a proper full wash so you can use that on the worse areas.
Using talcom powder juts lightly sprinkle it over the worst areas and it will mattify it.
Or put lemon juice into your shampoo - this stops greasiness.
