What are some uses for talcum powder?

I read this article -

';Even if you are careful about the time you spend in the bath and the temperature of the water, your skin will still need help, after your bath, to re-establish its correct moisture balance. Use body lotion, and then dust yourself with talc.';-

and wonder why and how does talcum powder help balance your moisture? Also, is talcum powder the same as baby powder?

*****Thanks*****What are some uses for talcum powder?
Well, if you have light hair, talcum powder, aka baby powder, can be dusted on your roots and brushed out if your hair is oily and needs a day before you can wash it. If your hair is dark, it just looks grey and wierd...lol

I think the whole lotion plus talcum powder is put the lotion on and after its absorbed, talc yourself to get rid of any extra greasiness? Perhaps they wanted it to be sort of like facial powder. Idk about that, but the cakey look is definetly possible.

What else? Yes, it helps to prevent chafing wherever there may be prolonged friction plus/or a lil sweat. inner thighs, guy areas (lol), underarms, etc

Thats really all that I can think of, but im positive that others have used it for many many things since its been invented. What are some uses for talcum powder?
Don't use talcum powder....it has been associated with lung cancer and skin cancer. Also, when you put it on your skin over lotion it can get 'pasty', ( think of flour and water) and block pores. Google ....talcum powder....lots of info.
My husband powders his two buddies ';Down Below'; every morning before work. It helps him from chaffing and keeps him from sweating! It works great.
