What do you use it for? How does it benefit your baby? What is the purpose of baby [talcum] powder?
I started using it for my son soon after he started walking and became really mobile. I use it because it keeps him dry and his parts from causing friction. Because I noticed when not being used he gets red and sore underneath his penis at the base. So his benefit is that is parts can move freely!
I never thought that I would ever use this big container of baby powder that I've had ever since he was born but this seemed to work the best after all the creams we tryed. I know they say it's bad for them to inhale but I think people read into too much, there's so many things nowadays that Dr's say are not good for your baby it's ridiculous. What is the purpose of baby [talcum] powder?
It sets a barrior against moiture, when your baby pee's his skin doesn't get irratated
to keep areas that are very moist dry as to keep away rash and chaffing. which can be painful:(
I use it to make my boys smell nice after a bath. That's about it. I like the smell of nice clean children.
Drying and it in't recommended anymore as babies can breathe it in.
I actually just use Lansinoh lanolin wipes, no other creams.
Nobody I know uses that since mineral talc is an irritant when inhaled and linked to ovarian cancer in adults. People used it in the past to keep away skin irritations in babies before better products were developed. We used cornstarch and arrowroot powders.
Below is a site that discusses the dangers of common items used on babies. The only one they missed is the Bisphenol A from plastic baby bottles.
